Supastands B-17 Flying Fortress / C-47 spinning props 1/72 recreate the visual effect of a running propeller on a static scale model. Aircraft-specific artwork is printed on ultra-clear acetate to produce a convincing motion blur while keeping the model clearly visible.

Based on the matching propeller configuration

This design is intended for aircraft using the corresponding Hamilton Standard propeller configuration. Confirmed applications include the B-17E, early B-17F and Douglas C-47/DC-3 family. Because propeller blades, diameters and hub arrangements varied between versions, compare the design with your particular kit before installation; compatibility should not be assumed for every B-17G or B-24 variant.

Two Props, two fitting options

Each single set contains two versions of the same propeller design:

  • Large bore: an enlarged spinner- or hub-compatible centre opening.
  • Small bore: a 1 mm pilot hole that can be carefully enlarged to suit the model.

The package contains one of each fitting option. For multi-engine installations, purchase the number of sets required for the chosen model and fitting method.

Easy to fit

Remove the kit propeller blades, select the centre opening that best suits your model and position the acetate Prop on the spinner or hub. Secure it with a small drop of CA or another acetate-compatible glue. The fitting does not rely on friction alone.

  • Do I need to modify my model to use a Supastand?

    No. Never. No drilling. No magnets. No glue. No screws. Supastands are designed to support your finished model using gravity and geometry only. Your aircraft rests securely in the cradle. Gravity will do the rest.

  • Will Supastands work with a fully built and painted model?

    Yes. Supastands are made for finished models, including:

    • Full weapon loadouts
    • External fuel tanks
    • Weathering
    • Decals
    • Clear coats

    You can mount your model immediately, without any prior preparation.

  • How does the model stay in place?

    The stand uses a carefully designed cradle and (depending on model) an exhaust latch system.

    You slide the exhaust section into position and rest the fuselage in the cradle. The aircraft’s own weight stabilises it.

    No tension. No pressure. No damage.

  • What material are Supastands made from?

    Every Supastand is made from laser-cut clear acrylic.

    Each part is covered in scratch-resistant protective film on both sides. Just remove the film before assembly.

  • Is assembly difficult?

    Assembly steps are simple:

    1. Remove protective film.

    2. Gently push the pillar pins into the base notches.

    3. Slide the cradle into the pillar.

    4. Place your model.

    Supastands fit without requiring any glue, but you can always add a drop of glue if that makes you feel safer 🙂

  • Do I need glue to assemble the stand?

    No glue required.

    The stand uses precision-fit laser-cut joints. Everything slides and locks into place securely.

    However, you are always welcome to add a drop of glue if that makes you feel safer 🙂

  • Can I disassemble the stand later?

    Yes.

    Because there’s no glue involved, you can take it apart for storage or transport.

  • Will the stand fit every brand of kit?

    Supastands are designed to accommodate standard kit geometry within each aircraft type and scale. Because manufacturers vary slightly, the cradle system allows positioning flexibility to achieve proper balance.

  • Can I use the stand for a different aircraft?

    Although each stand is designed for specific aircraft types, there are usually possibilities to fit other types too. A range of replacement cradles are planned. Modellers are also encouraged to use their own creativity to modify the stands to fit other aircraft types.

  • Why are Supastands made from clear acrylic?

    Our design philosophy is that the stand stand should disappear. Clear acrylic creates a sleek, unobtrusive in-flight display. Your aircraft is the art. The stand simply elevates it.

  • Where are Supastands made?

    Supastands are designed, developed and produced in The Netherlands. Supastands are an EU product.

  • Won't Supastands damage my finish?

    With normal use and care, Supastands will not damage your model. Take care to let the top coat on your model fully cure before placing it on the stand.

    Some modellers choose to add extra protection (for example felt or small rubber nubs) in order to further protect their model, but it is not necessary.

  • Will you ship to the US?

    Yes, we will. Small letterbox orders currently go through without any problems. There is, however, no telling if that may change in the future.

  • Will you ship to the UK?

    Yes, we will. Small to medium orders go through without any problems.
